This past week we were lucky enough to have a visit from a previous ACTAcademy pupil who has gone on to become a professional performer.
Harrogate-girl Emily Harrington used to attend ACTAcademy many moons ago, as a teenager. Taking part in festivals with us, and performing roles such as Margot in 'Legally Blonde' and Diana Morales in 'A Chorus Line'. Emily was a member of our Talented squad.
After sixth form, Emily went on to do a foundation course at SLP College in Leeds, before gaining a place on the 3-Year Musical Theatre training course at Urdang Academy in London.
Since graduating, Emily has been in professional productions such as 'Starlight Express' in Bochum, Germany, the U.K Tour of 'Miss Saigon', and she is about to embark on the U.K Tour of 'Grease: The Musical'.
So when Emily offered to come teach some musical theatre masterclasses for the students here at ACTAcademy, we jumped at the chance to welcome her back with open arms.
Emily led 'Grease' workshops for the older students, learning actual choreography from the audition process for the U.K Tour of 'Grease'. We can't believe how well the students did to learn such difficult, professional choreography!
The younger students, enjoyed learning choreography from 'Matilda: The Musical', getting to be 'revolting children'.
It was a wonderful experience for the students to get the chance to work with somebody new and with a wealth of experience in the industry. Our Stage 4's even got to take part in a 'mock audition' process and ask Emily plenty of questions about the industry and training in the performing arts.
Emily will be performing in 'Grease: The Musical' at Leeds Grand Theatre in June, so get your tickets and go see her in action.
