Stage Starters Class Information
Once your child is in Primary School, from Reception to Year 1, we offer an introductory weekly class called Stage Starters. Stage Starters is a weekly workshop, designed to help your child become aquainted with our teachers, our facilities and our all-round performing arts curriculum and routines.
At this introductory stage, your child will do a reduced timetable of 1 hour only, filled with the magic of dance, drama and musicality/singing activities. There are no pressure-filled performances, we end each term on a high with a gorgeous, informal sharing-showcase of our skills. - the emphasis is on building confidence, communication and enjoying the engagement in creative and imaginative tasks. This stage is really about getting used to attending ACTAcademy, in preparation for the full stage-school experience, when they are ready for a longer workshop each week.
Our full Stage-School experience can however begin once your child is in reception, whenever you feel they are ready for a 2 hour workshop, which can be straight away in Reception for some children. There is a break in the middle for a snack and all activities are organised in bursts, so it's certainly never boring; it's very active, creative and exciting!

Stage 1 and Stage 2 Triple-Threat Training
Triple Threat Training is what ACTAcademy specialises in. This is an industry term that means your child experiences all aspects of the main 3 performing arts subjects: Dance, Acting and Singing.
In Stage 1 TTT or Stage 2 TTT (Triple Threat Training) pupils experience a 2 hour workshop, covering drama and acting for stage and screen, dance and vocals combining for musical theatre performance. In Stage 1 and Stage 2, pupils also work towards taking part in so many exciting performance projects for stage and screen, developing their skills through an unrivalled, enriching arts curriculum and gaining their recognised qualifications along the journey. There are also plenty of opportunities to take additional classes in dance, drama, vocals or design - and once in your core training, your teachers can advise on the best additional classes for your child.
We are proud to be the Junior Training Department at Northern Performance Academy. As part of this incredible centre of excellence, we benefit from amazing facilities. We are not a 'pop-up' stage school, or a franchise, and as such, we have so much more on offer!
There are 2 theatres on-site, full pupil progression, audition preparation classes and additional specialist classes to take alongside core training. We also host outside auditions, events and offer discounts for visiting productions and masterclasses. In fact, we even have an adult arts timetable too - so much more happens on your performing arts journey when you train at ACTAcademy UK!
Our arts curriculum offers so much more than drama and musical theatre. Our outstanding curriculum ensures children experience many additional subject areas as part of their training, such as TV/Film, directing, theatre-making, improvisation, script-writing, choreography, composition, musicality, and stage combat, to name a few.
ACTAcademy is always described by past pupils as 'a second family' where pupils make friends for life and priceless memories are created. A childhood spent being part of ACTAcademy weekly workshops is what dreams are made of - and who knows where this exciting journey goes for your child!
Once your child is in Year 7, they graduate from our youth theatre department at ACTAcademy Stage School and enter the exciting world of Senior Stage Training as part of the main school of NPA.
